The Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival’s juried awards for feature-length documentary film and video will be presented prior to the Festival Closing Night on Thursday, May 17, 2012. This year’s group of both veteran and novice directors present powerful, illuminating, and sometimes shocking stories that essay an uncompromising world view. At turns observant and unflinching, these artists’ stories comprise a tapestry of contemporary perspectives and visions, but are never so serious that one could not detect a healthy dose of humor and levity in them. The directors of the juried awards nominees in the feature-length documentary category are:
YUNG CHANG | Director, CHINA HEAVYWEIGHT
S. LEO CHIANG | Director, MR. CAO GOES TO WASHINGTON
MICHAEL COLLINS | Director, GIVE UP TOMORROW
KANE DIEP | Director, UPLOADED: THE ASIAN AMERICAN MOVEMENT
SASHA FREIDLANDER | Director, WHERE HEAVEN MEETS HELL
CAROL LIU | Director, RESTORING THE LIGHT
DEBBIE LUM | Director, SEEKING ASIAN FEMALE
